Responsibilities:
The General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for the smooth and effective running of the financial accounting for the Muar factory and ensuring that daily accounting transactions are recorded accurately, on time and in accordance with internal policies and procedures and US GAAP and Malaysian accounting standards. Reporting to the site Finance Manager, the General Ledger Accountant will have the following specific responsibilities:
 
Prepare accruals, prepayments, journal entries and maintain all P&L and balance sheet accounts
Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Assist in statutory filing, preparation and submission of business statistics and other kind of returns as required by local tax and governmental regulations
Assist internal and external auditors on financial reporting related matters
Assist in preparation of tax computation and tax return
Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies (in accordance with US GAAP) as well as Malaysia Financial Reporting Standards (FRS).
Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures, including ensuring compliance with relevant SOX key controls.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. A professional qualification in accountancy is highly desirable.
4-5 years working experience in general ledger accounting.
Strong experience of working with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. Experience of working with SAP is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and FRS.
Experience of working with SOX programs and/or experience in implementing other internal controls programs is highly desirable, as is experience of compiling tax computations and tax returns in Malaysia.
